DP 5: Patrol 5 reported they were leaving position for return to FFL.  They said they received instructions to return early from their platoon leader.  They were told to stay in place until they could return at the proper time.

Patrols 1,3,4 departed ambush sites.

12 0556 Patrol 6 departed ambush site.
14 0622 Patrol 6:  Informed S-3 they are re-entering FFL and will fire his signal for recognition, requested we notify C Co by land line.
15 0710 Maj Kubas:  C&C ship will arrive 0800.  One light gun team on standby for entire Bde.  Expects to be briefed at 0800.  Gunship will depart 1100.  Still will be on call until 10 miles other side of Go Dau Hau, can't expect back for an hour.
18 0750 Viking 65 to 3/4 Cav: viking notified 3/4 Cav that a roadblock is located at XT 600142 road cut by trenches.
19 0808 Bde:  12 man and 1 NCO - tent pitching detail for 5 days to Bde
20 0822 S-3 to Bde.  Our elements have stopped - saber element had 4 PC stuck and 2 will need VTR.  Approximate time of moving again will be at least 40 min.
22 0843 S-3: APC's are moving now and all elements are moving.
23 0855 3:  3/4 Cav stuck in rice paddies.  Suggest B&C go on & when 3/4 Cav gets unstuck, 6 guide him around rice paddies.  3 now located XT162495
27 0946 3/4 Cav has original APC un-stuck, they will continue to pull out other ones with chains.
28 0950 DC-6 observation of smoke again Charlie Co position loc XT160491
29 1000 3:  Mark Alice periodically with a round for navigational purpose
30 1100 65th Engr reported that a castle element reported enemy small arms firing at helicopters at coord XT510190
34 1146 B Co searched obj MARY and has est. area ambush 300 meters in all directions at XT 166491
35 1155 C Co reports new location is XT 166486 with negative enemy contact
36 1205 D3 is going to mark his location with smoke and asks D6 to conform his location XT 167487
37 1209 C6 informed D6 that rubber trees were thick and new and that movement through area would do a lot of damage
39 1255 Tropic:  Gen Weyand will be in your area in 15 minutes.
40 1335 Dragon 3X commencing buttonhook.  Moving back on Route RED
41 1404 Bravo 6 heard small arms fire of 3 rounds several hundred meters left of this position
44 1438 Dragon 6 informed us that 300 meters to left front his position are several houses, directed B6 to check houses.
47 1500 Bde:  Representative from Special Forces field V-2 will be in area.
48 1508 D3 notified D6 his location is now on highway 13.
49 1527 Dragon C6 closed in base camp
51 1545 Saber B:  Bravo Co entered base camp
54 1650 Bde 3 - Cav Plt and Flame tank requested for tomorrow's opn will be on standby basis as a reaction force
56 1834 C/C ship will be ready at 0800 5 Aug 66
58 1940 Bn will not get light fire team requested for 5 August 66
59 1945 Flame PC that B Co was getting from Engr did not show up tonight
65 2100 S-3:  all patrols departed friendly front lines.  1,2,3,4
