		Initial log entries contain hourly sit/rep, and reports of patrols leaving ambush sites and arriving back at base camp. All negative contact.
19	0915	Co C 1st Plat at 0900 Co C patrol located tunnel complex vic coord XT162490. In the tunnels was found some pottery and empty beer bottles, in one tunnel an M-1 ammo clip, investigation disclosed that the tunnels appeared to have been inhabited within the last 10-14 days. Tunnels are being mapped and destroyed by Co C Patrol.
20	0950	Co C 1st Plat, at 0940 destroying tunnels and continuing mission
21	0950	Co C 1st Plat: Tunnel complex - 5 tunnels, ranging from 10 meters to 20 meters in length.
22	1010	S3: Dispatched Patrol Plan, Hq 2/14 Inf, dtd 180900 Aug 66 to Msg Center for distribution
23	1015	From S3 to Co C patrol: The patrol is cancelled and is to return to Base Camp by the most direct route
24	1000	Received verbal warning order from 1st Bde S3 (Capt Pattion) to be prepared to lift battalion to vic coord XT 2532 in 2 hrs.
25	1038	From Bde S3 (Capt Pattion) Hirre Aircraft Maj Griffith, refueling will be on Helipad in 10 minutes. Tail No is 957
26	1044	S3: Informed COs of Co B & Co C by wire line that Maj Griffith desired they report to Bn CP ASAP for briefing.
27	1100	Capt Pattion: Convoy will not depart C Co until 1130
28	1100	Bn CO, Bn S3, COs of B, C and Arty LNO departed Bn CP to recon area vic coord XT 2532 by helicopter
29	1133	From C Co: 1st Plat elements that were working in the south area have returned to base camp
30	1140	S3: Dispatched Patrol reports (2) for patrols closing FFL 180700 Aug 66 thru Msg Center to Bde S3
31	1220	Bn CO, Bn S3, COs of B and C and Arty LNO returned to Bn CP. Party did not make recon vic coord XT 2532. Recon will be made at approx 1300 hours today
32	1300	Capt Palmer wanted to know if the training for the 196th Inf. personnel had been cancelled.
33	1307	Bn CO, S3, S2, COs of B, C & Arty LNO departed Bn CP area for recon of area vic coord XT 2532 by helicopter
35	1320	Maj Griffith said to contact Viking 14 and find out where his recon chopper is. The one he was supposed to have took a chaplain someplace. Maj Griffith and the Col are still waiting.
35	1406	Capt Murphy requested S3 for 1 squad for security on MEDCAP tomorrow
39	1435	S3: A Co closed Oahu Base area from Cu Chi by motor convoy at 1435 hrs
40	1530	From Lt Muir: 2/14 sent two squads from C Co for security to the location for the stuck vehicle. Lt Balzeer is in command
41	1545	From S3: Informed HHC, A Co, B, C, S1, S4 and Commo of the meeting in the Bn briefing tent at 1630
42	1545	S3: Debriefing report of plat size Opns and Tunnel overlay sent to Bde by msg center 1545 hrs.
43	1604	A Co reports they are in position on the perimeter and are ready to repel any attack
44	1625	S3: Co C XO was notified to release the two (2) squads standing by to act as security for mired vehicle
45	1631	C Co said 3 bunker frames were complete on west flank. 3rd of the 21st elements are starting to sandbag 2 of the 3
46	1630	C Co reported that they could release the 2 squads needed for security
47	1645	S3: 2/1st Inf and 3/21st Inf were notified that training classes and mortar firing schedule to be conducted by 2/14th Inf for elements of 2/1st & 3/21st Inf on 19 Aug 66 has been cancelled
48	1655	From Motor Officer: end of mission, would return to base camp in 15 minutes.
49	1715	B Co: The officer and the three shotgunners that left this morning have not returned yet
51	1801	Motor Officer called and said that the District Chief hasn't released them yet but they should be back in 30 min. Make sure HHC and B Co have chow for them
57	2010	S3: Request location of your 106's. Also can you get one in Bravo area as soon as possible
63	2040	S3 to B Co: Flame track is no longer attached to B Co. Also will not have 106 tonight
67	2105	Capt Williams reported hearing small arms fire approx 1000-1500 m S.E. of B Co
71	2231	B Co reported automatic weapons fire 1000 meters to their rear, also heard M079 at approx same distance
72	2250	B Co reported automatic weapons fire 1000-1500 meters right flank

27	0658	Recon 2/14 picked up patrols at pick up point, now enroute to BC
32	0750	2/14 Plat on daylight patrol crossed LD at 0731
34	0800	2/14 range firing will start at 0815
37	0840	2/14 ceased fir on range at 0836 and returning to BC

42	0958	Rec Msg from Jaj. Falz: warning order prepare to lift one Battalion to XT2532 in two hrs.
43	0958	Fm G2: 3/4 Cav LRRP 2 men harvesting rice, one has wpn leaning against building. Also 12 men w/wpns in trench system at coord 273330
50	1118	196th will blow ant hills with 1/4 t o1/2 lb blocks vic coord XT155525
51	1123	G3 informs that they have approved temporary AO of that area for 2/14 opn.
53	1300	25th Div w/25th ARVN Div approval is sending gunships to check out 8 sampans w/20 pers loc XT262329 and 35 pers loc XT295283. Report was initiated by Div FAC
55	1450	A/2/14 departed Cu Chi at 1130 and closed BC, unit was in route from Cu Chi to Tay Ninh.
88	2215	Bde rear reported A/4/9 at Laterite Pit received 4 rifle grenades from XT669151, time 2100, and at 2150 fired flares, spotted 1 man on roof of house, fired S/A knocked him off, 1 VC Poss
95	2400	SUMMARY: 1st Bde continued with operation OAHU. 1/5 Mech conducted a two Co S&D Opns and 2/14 conducted one plat size sweep. 4/23 provided security and continued to assist in the improvement of the 196th Bde (Sep) area. Bde will conduct a Helilift Operation with one Bn. One Arty Btry will displace by vehicles to provide supporting fires. One rifle plat will security Arty Btry.
