From SMaj Holt to S3:  General Dessasuer will walk the bunker line.  The word of the day is "keep all civilians and kids off the wire."  When asked by the General what the word of the day is, this is the correct answer.

17 1220 Capt Murphy requested EOD TEam from Bde to blow two 60mm mortar rounds in A Co Area.
23 1800 From Bde to S3:  Airstrike on Saturday 27 Aug 66 killed 4 VC from a 30-man platoon.  Status of other 26 is unknown.  Reports state that one platoon is permanently operating in area vic coord XT 166185 which also contains tunnels, fortifications and caches.
30 1930 From A Co 65th Engr to S-3:  From Lt Satorie, inform S3 and C Co 2/14 Inf that 1 flame track has been deadlined because of faulty carburetor.  It can not e repaired tonight, no parts available.
34 2144 Second platoon C Co reported hearing a couple of bursts of automatic carbine fire from what appeared to be 300 to 400 meters to their right front.  Patrol 2 heard the fire and also and it was way out and appeared to be outgoing fire from PF outpost.
40 2355 C Co 2/1 to S3:  Reported a man bitten by unknown insect or reptile.  Sending man to dispensary.

C/4/9 Rear:  One man threw a grenade at a hut at laterite pit.  The grenade hit a piece of tin and bounced back.  One man was wounded by fragments.  Treated at Bn Aid station and evac to Div.

27 1142 1/5 Mech called for Dustoff coord 343454.  3 amb 2 litter - details unknown.
30 1215 DT 1130 hrs AO Fr 7/11 adjusted B 3/13 Arty on susp supply cache coord XT0448556 - fired 34 rds - survey 1 KIA (poss)
31 1245 Dustoff requested for C/1/5 Mech, 1 litter dustoff complete 1302 hrs.
32 1305 Delayed Entry:  1240 hrs 1/5 Mech rptd capturing 1 VCC who pointed out 2 additional VC at coord 340460 NP rounded up approx 78 suspects vic same coord 3 VCC being evacuated by chopper Fr G3 to Bde IPW team.
34 1455 1/5 Mech total count 6 VCC - 78 VCS
36 1703 1/5 Mech Missions  30 Aug 66.  1.  Co A attached to 2/14.  2.  Co B (-) attached to 3/4 Cav.  3.  Move Bn (-) from present base to either Go Dau Ha or Cu Chi, choice by 1/5 Mech CO.  4.  Escort A/7/11 Engr Sqd & Dig Det. to Cu Chi.  31 Aug 66:  1.  Secure route TN to Cu Chi (IP 0900).  2.  After passage of 1st Bde convoy (N to S, 3 march units, approx 250 veh) close all of 1/5 Mech to Cu Chi.  3.  Upon closing Cu Chi detached from 1st Bde attached to 2d Bde.
37 1750 S5 reported people leave for work in the fields 0600 - 0630.  Results of airstrike on Saturday, 4 killed from 30-man platoon by air, other 26 status unknown.  One platoon in wooded area permanently.  VC will mine coord XT143504 to XT145504 in the near future.  Area vic XT166485 contains tunnels, caches and fortifications.
38 1820 Entac 2/14 security for Philippine Survey Team closed base camp at 1800.  Sitrep N/C
57 2359 SUMMARY:  1st Bde continues Opn OAHU and supports Opn Blue Jay.  1/5 S&D resulted in 10 VC captured and 85 VCS detained.  One ROADRUNNER Opn from Tay Ninh to Cu Chi with 115 vehicles.  2 airstrikes were flown in support of 1st Bde opns.  1st Bde will conduct a search and destroy opn in area 1-B of AO-1 300630 Aug 66 with 2/14 Inf and 3/21 B (-) 1/5 Inf will assist 3/4 Cav in convoy security on 30 Aug.
