8	0900	Ref Item 43, Journal of 10 Sep 66: Translation of Cambodian writing on 2 slips of paper attached to rice paper hot air balloon was as follows: (1) Kinsmen of Cambodia; I am a Cambodian. I must return to live in Cambodian territory - signed MAV SOK. (2) "All Cambodian friends who live in Vietnam if some Cambodian receives this letter do not throw it away. Keep it and think." Signed, VIVA CAMBODIA
9	1030	From 1st Bde S3, Capt Palmer to S3: 2/14 Inf (-) attached to 196th Bde until 2/14 closes Cu Chi Base Camp. Cav Troop commander will be convoy commander. 2/14 Inf will be serial within convoy under control of Cav troop commander.
10	1113	Co A (Lt Otjen) and Co C (Capt Grant) were asked as to whether all personnel in each company had flak jackets. Reply was affirmative for both companies.
13	1645	Delayed Entry: At 151500 to 151600 Recon Platoon will be inspected by MACV J-2. 2/14 Inf will send one platoon to the Ambush Academy on 16 Sept (Co C designated). Meeting of Bn CO's at Bde 14 Sept.
20	1901	From 25th Div Pathfinder to S-3: Aircraft for helilift of Co C to Ch Chi will be delayed one hour. Have Co C personnel at staging area at 0915 hrs, 14 Sep 66.

56	2400	SUMMARY: 4/9 Inf will move advance party by helicopter to Long An Province to establish forward base (opn LANIKAI). 2/14 Inf Bn (-) to return from Tay Ninh by convoy and vehicle convoy on 14 Sep. 4/23 Inf will conduct airmobile opn to XT712178 and S&D back to base camp. Opn begins 140800 hrs.
