From Sgt Yabes to 33:  HHC strength for 30 Sep 66 is 15 Off and 126 EM

12 0735 From S3 to A,B,C Co's:  (Monitored)  Do not burn any more houses because the smoke will obscure the LZ for extraction helicopters
13 0745 From Capt Taylor to 33:  2/14 will have 2 choppers this morning.  At 1200 hrs both choppers will go to Cu Chi for an assault mission and 2/14 will use an H-23 for C&C.  Choppers will return at 1430 hrs for resupply.
14 0800 From S3 to 33:  Received replacement PRC-25 radio and accessories.
18 0907 From S3 to A,B,C Co's:  (Monitored)  There is going to be an arty prep - want all companies down under cover and be prepared to move out as soon as prep is over.
19 0908 From CO Co C to 33:  5 houses destroyed and (3) 55-gal drums of rice destroyed vic XT 512382
20 0909 From 33 to 1st Bde:  Arty preparation fired at 0907 for today's target operation, 2/14 will move out on operations as soon as arty preparation is completed.
21 0915 From Capt Murply to Capt Taylor:  Air requirements for 2/14 tomorrow are 1 C&C ship, and 3 resupply helicopters
24 0926 From Bn CO to 33:  Check with 1st Bde and insure that 1/5 Mech is aware of fire coordination line.  Reply:  2/14 is supposed to make coordination with 1/5 Mech.
25 0935 From Bn CO to S3:  (Monitored)  Inform our units that 1/5 Mech is to our left and that coordination will have to be made before any units can fire south of the river.
26 1006 From Co B to 33:  Co B has just destroyed one (1) bunker at XT 504384.
27 1009 From Bn CO to 33:  Will have to change C&C ship, have another one ready to go on Dau Tieng airstrip
30 1030 From B Co to A Co:  (Monitored) Have held my 2 lead elements.  Have found 2 bunkers.
31 1035 From Bn CO to S3:  (Monitored)  2/14 Bn CO stated that 2/14 elements on ground should be able to hear 1/5 Mech elements moving on its left flank
33 1048 From S3 to Bn CO:  (Monitored)  Co B will cross open area XT 502386 by reconning with fire.
34 1055 From S3 to CZO Co A:  (Monitored)  Co B moved across open area.  Are you still tied in with B Co?  Also Co B has run into a line of bunkers that generally parallel the stream line XT 502386.  Reply from Co A CO:  Co A was tied in with B Co.
35 1101 From Co B to 33:  Request 2 cases of C-4 on resupply chopper this afternoon.
36 1105 From Co B to 33:  Co B located and destroyed 2 bunkers at XT 502384.
38 1128 From Bn CO to 33:  Co C destroyed a bunker reinforced w/concrete containing 600 lbs rice at XT 505385.  Bunker size 6x8x6 feet.  Both rice and bunker were destroyed.
46 1345 From Bn CO to S3:  Be advised leaflet drop at 1700 hrs by 25th Div, also call Capt Woods about Civic Action for the kids.
47 1500 From 3X to 33:  Call back to CC and tell Miyagi to leave Williams wrist watch at the Comm shop.
48 1545 From S3 to 33:  Have established night defensive position, begin resupply and extraction.
49 1600 From Bde to 33:  4 aircraft for extraction at 0810-0820 hrs, will report directly to fwd area.  After extraction will have just 1 ship to be utilized for C&C ship.
51 1703 From S3 to 33:  Require dustoff helicopter to evacuate heat casualty with several cramps.  Reply:  As soon as weather breaks a H-23 helicopter would arrive 2/14 location LZ to pickup heat casualty.
56 1800 From S3 to 33:  Evacuated PFC Robert Poe from Co C, possible heat casualty, to Bn aid station.
59 1835 From 3rd Plat Co B, 4/23 Inf to 33:  Plat Sgt of 3rd plat, Co B, 4/23 Inf requested permission to send a fire team (5 men) out from patrol position to check a hole from which several people were observed coming out of.  Permission granted, Plat sgt was cautioned about firing on any innocent Vietnamese civilians.
60 1900 From C Co to S3:  Co Co requests the following supplies:  600 rounds 7.62mm linked, 100 rounds 7.62mm, (10) 4-oz cans of oil, salt tablet supply.
62 1940 From Maj Shelton to S3 Air:  Col Sandlin suggests 2/14 start a little earlier in movement from the night perimeter.  He suggests one security element and the remainder of the Bn moving out on a broad front searching.
63 1950 From A Co to 33:  A Co requests the following supplies:  10 lbs C-4, 10 non-electric blasting caps, 1 case C rations.
64 1950 From Recon to S3:  Recon requests the following supplies:  1 PRC-25 radio, 1 bottle salt tablets, 3 bottles of calamine lotion.  Also wish to check mail, Recon hasn't received any for the last few days.  Want to know why Dingess must come in.  Reply:  Dingess is going on R&R.
66 1950 From B Co to S3:  B Co requests the following supplies:  2 cases of C-4, 30 non-electric blasting caps.
70 2020 From Capt Taylor to S3 Air:  At 0700 6 slicks will be available for extraction.  At 0730 they will depart.  H-23 must be used for C&C until 1200.  Then we will have 1 UH-1D.

A/2/1 patrol 2 closed at 0100, sighted and fired upon (6) VC, 1 man wounded, evac in morning XT485426.

Dustoff called for WIA refer item 5.

19 0920 C/2/14 destroyed 5 bldgs, 165 lbs rice at XT512382
24 1111 At 0955 C/2/1 rec'd SA fire from 6 VC vic XT480427.  VC yelled "Come and get us Americans", and blew whistle 3 times.  Unit engaged w/SA.  Results Unk.  1 US slight WIA.  VC also yelled "Don't shoot - Friendly Patrol"
25 1112 At 1010 A/2/1 rec'd SA fire vic XT479429.  VC armed w/1 BAR, 1 M-79 and 4 carbines were engaged with SA, Arty.  Results Unk.
26 1113 C/2/14 destroyed 2 bunkers vic XT502384
27 1150 Delayed Entry (1050):  1000 lbs salt evacuated from 2/1 area to Dau Tieng.  At 1105, 800 lbs salt evacuated.
28 1202 C/2/1 destroyed 2 bldgs at XT482428, C/2/14 destroyed 1 reinforced bunker 6x8x6 and 600 lb rice.  At XT 505385, airstrike resulted in 7 VC (BC), 2 VC (Poss), 9 buildings destroyed
29 1225 Bde fwd reported District Chief had been found slightly wounded.
30 1323 Airstrike at XT439485 resulted in 1 VC KIA (BC), 15 KIA (Poss), 7 bldgs destroyed, at 1145 hrs.
33 1348 C/4/23 engaged 2 VC w/Arty vic XT629215.  Results unk.
36 1450 C/2/1 detonated booby trap XT 480423, no casualties
37 1530 C/4/23 destroyed 1 tunnel XT 629217
39 1545 C/2/1 at 1458 received sniper fire.  Fired back with mortars and SA.  At 1523 proceeded to check out area, received sniper fire again and VC broke contact.
41 1645 C/4/23 loc 1000 lbs rice and assorted documents at XT 629217.  Rice destroyed, documents evacuated.
47 1935 2/1 dustoff 1 WIA 2 KIA at 485426
52 2021 A/4/9 has observed movement near 3/4 Cav Unit recovering vehicle, will fire upon if they close in.
53 2035 Refer #47, received 1 rifle grenade.  Dustoff having trouble getting in because of the weather.
66 2400 SUMMARY:  Bde (-) continued opn KAMUELA with minor contact.  2/14 and 2/1 conducted local S&D near base areas.  4/9 Inf continued Opn LANIKAI, conducting MEDCAP and psywar operations in village at XS642769.
