32	0735	B/4/23 received 2 rds of SA fire vic XT750150 from unknown direction. Also found (1) command detonated AT mine.
34	0750	B/4/23 found booby-trapped hand grenade vic XT754149.
39	0820	B/4/23 received 10-15 rds sniper fire from east vic 752150, returned fire, results unk. No casualties. 3/4 Cav element moving to link up with B/4/23. 752150 mine field encountered, pointed out by Chieu Hoi, also marked. By-passed mine field, estimated 200 meters long.
46	0945	Delayed Entry: B/4/23 reports 2nd mine field loc XT757148, 150 meters by 25 meters running north and south. Arty will be called in on minefield later this afternoon.
47	1005	2/14 fwd started move from base fwd.
51	1105	B/4/23 loc 759153 received 2 rds sniper fire. Returned fire, sniper ceased. 4 bunkers found 4 ft x 5 ft x 3 ft, also a manual on grease guns found in one of the bunkers.
55	1135	Msg from Lt. Friend, 2/14th, VCS at Phu Hoa Dong stated that a platoon of snipers were loc XT 665185.
56	1140	B/4/23 coord 761154 found tunnel with sleeping room 12 ft x 4 ft x 4 ft. 2 helmets. Tunnel destroyed.
59	1200	B/4/23 located structure big enough for 2 people vic 760151. 1 helmet liner, 1 bag of rice, 1 M-79 round and some clothes. Destroyed.
61	1230	B/4/23 located 2 booby-traps at 765138, destroyed.
62	1240	B/4/23 has slight WIA from booby-trap at 765138.
72	1630	2/14 requested a Scout Dog and Handler for 221700 hrs. Approved.
76	1735	2/14 Recon stay-behind ambush got 2 VC KIA (BC), (1) assault rifle at XT690165. On way to base camp.
94	2120	C/4/23 patrol loc XT 663179, lead man struck booby-trap, slightly wounded. Patrol returning to Ann Margaret, observed movement to right of loc with wounded, calling indirect fire.
95	2125	A/4/9 patrol moving toward ambush site spotted blinking lights at XS632764. Unit dispatched picked up two VCS females. VCS evacuated.
103	2230	4/23 Patrol at Laterite Pit observed 4-5 persons at XT 678148, radar keeping under observation.
112	2400	SUMMARY: 1st Bde continued Opns KALIHI (2/14 & 4/23) and Opn LANIKAI (4/9 Inf). 4/9 airmobile Opn was aborted due to weather. 2/14 Inf conducted S&D Opn vic ST6817. Bn closed Cu Chi BC 1420 hrs. 4/23 Inf conducted S&D Opn vic XT765165. PLANS SUMMARY: 4/9 Inf Bn will conduct S&D BUDDY Opn and CHECKMATE vic XS6277. 2/14 Inf Bn will conduct local security and maintenance. 4/23 Inf Bn will conduct airmobile assault and S&D Opn vic XT252208 to XT746198.
