1/27 & 2/27 notified each would provide (1) man with each patrol from 4/23 in their patrol areas, effective today - coordinate with 4/23.  Man should be familiar with patrol area.

A/4/23 reports rec'd 8 to 10 rds S/A sniper fire from south of obj; neg casualties.  Fire being returned.  XS642742.

55 1810 A/4/9 (1) man wounded and evacuated to 25th Med.  1 man slightly injured and treated at Battalion aid station.  Both caused by detonated round.
57 1830 3 VC were engaged by Arty at 1800 hrs.  Observed by Mr. Simpson and SSG Love while on VR Mission.  2 VC KIA (BC), 1 (Poss) XT609238.  Ox set off explosion similar to 105mm round.
58 1835 1/27 reported 2 members of Red Hot patrol #3 left patrol and went to Cu Chi at 1620 hrs & picked up by MP's at Cu Chi 1845 hrs.
64 1940 1/27 called patrol #3 back in.  Are on way back to friendly lines.
78 2400 SUMMARY:  1st Bde continued Opns KANIKAI and KALIHI.  4/9 Inf conducted ambushes and local security opns in the first and second Bde AO's.  2/14 Inf remained attached to 2nd Bde.  4/23 Inf conducted LANIKAI with a S&D BUDDY opn vic XS690755 with A/4/23.  Elements 51st Ranger Bn ARVN and 3/50 ARVN.  Units returned to their base loc closing at 1402 hrs.  US/ARVN JOC's remained established vic Tan An (XS5565), and Binh Chanh (XS7279).  Three USAF CAS missions were flown in support of opn KALIHI.
