7	0315	A/4/23 patrol picked up 2 VC on Starlite vic XT657179. Sprung ambush using SA and mortars. Results negative. Patrol returning to base camp.
21	0903	A/1/27 reported receiving 4 rounds SA sniper fire on bunker line from vic XT620140. No casualties. Fire was not returned due to civilian workers.
28	1125	B/1/27 apprehended two boys (14-15 years of age) XT635144 observing wire line, no I.D. or Equipment. Taken to PW compound.
53	2210	G-2 Rpt: 5th ARVN reported Phu Hoa Doung (XT713185) was attacked with 20-30 rounds of 60mm mortar & M-79 fire, attack started at 1925 hrs and terminated at 1940 hrs. Mortar fire believed to have come from vic XT709197 and M-79 fire from XT715196, there were 1 WIA and 1 KIA. Fire was returned with Arty. BC believed to have withdrawn into FILHOL Plantation.
57	2400	SUMMARY: 1st Bde continued Opn LANIKAI in Long An Province, base construction in Gia Dinh Province, and base security Opn in the 1st and 2nd Bde areas of the Cu Chi base camp area. 2/14 inf released from 2nd Bde effective 241300 hrs returning to Cu Chi base at 1505 hrs. 4/23 Inf conducted a CHECKMATE BUDDY Opn vic XS655757 and XS639751 with elements of Co C and 3/50 ARVN commencing at 0600 hrs and closing Ben Luc base at 0925 hrs. 4/9 Inf continued Cu Chi base security and ambush Opn. PLANS SUMMARY: 4/9 Inf will continue base security, ambush opn and establishment of a fire support base in Gia Dinh Province. 2/14 Inf will conduct local security and ambush opn. Recon platoon OPCON 3/4 Cav. 4/23 Inf will continue Opn LANIKAI in Long An Province with a S&D BUDDY Opn with B & C Co moving by RAG boats to a dismount point vic XS665676 and conducting S&D opn vic XS654673 and XS664675.
