15	0750	B/4/9 picked up 15 male detainees at XS745785.
23	0900	B/4/9 found house with clay models of APC's and other type US vehicles. A woman guided element to house in same vic, supposedly a stop-off point for VC, woman stated approx (40) VC were there 3-4 days ago, moved out to the east, in house found what appears to be tax collector list. 4 additional male detainees and 1 female detainee picked up in same vic.
24	0900	C/4/9 rec'd SA fire from est VC squad XS771760, neg casualties, returning fire, moving toward direction of fire.
35	1100	C/4/9 rec'd 3 rds sniper fire from vic XS776780. 1 sniper taken under fire, neg casualties. Checking sniper position.
44	1355	Rec'd message from A/4/23 - body of man drowned on 04 Dec has been recovered. All equipment was on body, rifle missing. Found by Vietnamese woman in sampan.
69	2015	B/4/23 patrol #2 sprung ambush vic XS656747 against unk number of VC. VC returned fire with grenades and auto wpns. Results 3 VC KIA (Poss). No US casualties. Patrol moving to XS657745 and are being followed by unk size VC force.
80	2400	SUMMARY: 1st Bde continued opn LANIKAI, FAIRFAX, and continued security/ambush opns. 4/9 Inf continued opn FAIRFAX with CHECKMATE BUDDY opn vic XS729765 and XS738780 and conducted company S&D BUDDY opn vic XS7478, XS7479, XS7678. 2/14 Inf conducted S&D opn in FILHOL Plantation vic XT6619. 4/23 Inf conducted a company size S&D BUDDY opn vic XS6474. 4/9 Inf (FAIRFAX) Co. A & C will conduct an ambush in respective Co bases. 2/14 conducts local security and ambush opn in Cu Chi base area. C/4/23 (LANIKAI) will continue search and ambush activities vic XS6574.
