4/9 at 0005 hrs gunships sunk 3 sampans at XS809775.  7 VC KIA (Poss).  At 0015 hrs gunships sank 1 sampan at XS805745.  1 VC KIA (BC).

2/14 Rec'd mortars at 0250 hrs at XS738699.  Mortar position was too close for Arty at Rach Kien, Arty from Binh Chanh fired the mission.  Starting at coord XS735699.  Details to follow, 25 rds, ceased at 0315 hrs.

9 0415 Ref Item 7:  2/14 received 5 WIA's very minor.
12 0645 Ref item 7:  2/14 0250-0350 rec'd mortar attack (60mm) initially was heavy to light firing.  14 rds rec'd in Co C area XS744698.  6 rds rec'd in 2/14 Bn area XS742699.  105 was fired in return to stop mortars vic XS73697098.  Results unk.  0350-0500 Co B rec'd 5 rds XS740698.  2nd Plat B Co saw lights vic where Arty had been fired.  Arty was again placed on this location.  4 slight WIA HQ Co.  1 slight WIA from C Co.   None requiring dustoff.
16 0945 Delayed Entry 1535 23-Dec:  3/22 C&C shop engaged 3 VC vic XS891745, 1 VC KIA (BC), 2 KIA (Poss).
26 1725 PRU patrol (2/14) accompanied by US were engaged with SA by an unknown nbr of VC vic XS736699.  Same VC element also fired at 2/14 bunker line at Rach Kien.  PRU patrol and 2/14 bunker line returned fire with SA and AW.  PRU patrol withdrew to 2/14 base camp.
28 1851 Ref Item 26:  20 VC were about 40 meters from patrol when engaged.  VC were observed carrying a 10-in claymore with them.
35 2400 SUMMARY:  1st Bde continues opns FAIRFAX (4/9 Inf and 3/22 Inf) and LANIKAI (2/14 Inf).  ASCC's are established at Ben Luc, Binh Chanh, Tan An, Rach Kien, Nha Be, and Gia Dinh.  4/9 Inf conducted a multi-company opn vic XS7085 with A and B 4/9 and 31 Company 3rd ARVN Airborne.  2/14 Inf continued local security of its new base camp at Rach Kien XS739698.  C/2/14 conducted a security sweep to the east of the base, B/2/14 to the west.  3rd ARVN Airborne Bn operating on line to the north and company blocking vic XS715834.  3/22 Inf Bn continue S&D opns in assigned AO.  A & B conducted detail ambushing in AO HORSE center of mass XS8978, and AO COW XS8679 respectively.
PLANS SUMMARY:  1.  4/9 Inf Bn will conduct local security opns during the day, dispatching platoon size patrols about each company base.  Night ambushes will be dispatched during the evening by each company.  2.  2/14 Inf, Co A will remain at Ben Luc as security for the Bde fwd CP.  B & C Co will conduct local security patrols about the Bn base.  During the day and evening ambushes.  3.  3/22 Inf Bn will conduct local security opns during the day, dispatching platoon size patrols about each company base.  Night ambushes will be dispatched during the evening by each company.
