1/46th Inf ARVN reports they are approx 35 minutes behind schedule.

16 0715 A Co Patrol 5 reports checking ambush area and finding only 1 VC body.  No weapons or documents.
20 0800 From 1/46th ARVN to S3:  Picked up 1 VCS at XS 750707, 1 male, they are taking him with them.
21 0818 From Recon Platoon sergeant to S3:  Request to know if road is secure and if a convoy is going to be run today?  Response:  Road is not secure, there will be no convoys running from this location.
24 0930 1/46 ARVN reports sighting 5 VC vic XS 763708, are engaging with SA and mortar.  VC breaking contact by crossing river, 1/46 will not pursue.
30 1140 B Co reports receiving sniper fire from vic XS 767701 from 3-4 snipers.  Enemy taken under SA and Arty fire.  No friendly casualties.
31 1200 B Co maneuvering under Arty fire cover and will begin search of area XS 767701 as soon as Arty fire is shifted.  No friendly casualties.  1/46th ARVN began movement to its base camp.
57 1835 Patrol 1 reports 2 VC going into tree line, one carrying a 30 Cal MG and the other carrying a carbine vic XS 745685.  Enemy taken under fire with Arty.  Results unk.
63 1925 From S3 to Bde:  Ref the 2 VC with the 30 Cal MG and carbine at XS 745685.  They were observed and fired on by the twin 40mm M-42 track.  Results 1 VC KIA (Poss) by M-42.  Right after the M-42 track finished its fire, one VC was seen moving out of the area and was taken under arty fire, results 1 VC KIA (Poss) by Arty.
78 2220 Patrol 4 reports that someone was pulling on their claymore and they opened fire, they are checking the area out and will keep us informed.
79 2240 Bunker 17 heard movement to their front and threw 2 hand grenades in that area.  Results unk.  XS 741699.
80 2250 Outpost 3 reports receiving AS fire from 2 people.  Fire was returned, firing ceased when the 2 people withdrew.

From S3 3/22 in ref to earlier report of District and having sighted 15-20 VC enroute between Nha Be and the shell oil tank.  The 3rd platoon of B Co 3/22 and scout section is now sweeping the area vic XS915809 and 920815.  Neg contact.

24 1015 1/46 ARVN reports sighting 5 VC vic XS763708.  Engaged with AS and 81mm mortars.  VC broke contact and went across river.
26 1130 C/4/9 element spotted 2 armed VC vic XS715964, engaged with SA.  Results:  Picked up 1 detainee.
27 1145 B/2/14 returning from blocking position rec'd sniper fire from 3-4 VC at XS767701, engaging with Arty.
38 1555 1st Bde Aerial Observer requested Arty, 1 sampan vic XS652914 resulting in 1 VC KIA (Poss) and 1 sampan damaged, and 1 camouflaged motorize sampan vic XS651869 resulting in 1 VC KIA (Poss) and one sampan damaged.
40 1859 C/2/14 patrol 1 rec'd fire from 3 VC vic XS745685.  Patrol returned fire with SA, VC broke contact and two were observed going into wood line.  One had a 30 Cal MG and other a carbine.  Arty mission called, results unknown.  No casualties.
41 1925 Ref Item 40:  Two VC were taken under fire with twin 40.  Unit observed 1 hit.  The other VC ran and was taken under fire by Arty.  Results 1 VC KIA (Poss).  1 VC KIA (Poss) by Arty.
43 2050 4/9 Requested dustoff for (1) individual from 7/11 Arty who had severe stomach cramps.
45 2100 B/3/22 patrol 19 engaged sampan vic XS873815 with SA and AW.  Sampan contained 3 VC.  Results 1 VC KIA (BC), 2 VC KIA (Poss).  Body could not be recovered due to current.
48 2330 A/2/14 patrol 4 observed someone pulling on Claymore wire vic XS731699, they detonated claymore.  Results unk.  2240 hrs: B 2/14 heard movement in front of bunker 17 vic XS741699, threw hand grenades.  Results unk.  2250 hrs:  B/2/14 outpost 3 rec'd SA fire from 2 VC vic XS740696.  Returned fire, results unk.
50 2400 SUMMARY:  1st Bde continued opns FAIRFAX and LANIKAI.  4/9 Inf continued opn FAIRFAX with security and BUSHMASTER opn.  2/14 Inf continued LANIKAI with S&D BUDDY opn with 1/46 ARVN vic XS7570.  3/22 Inf continued FAIRFAX with local security opns and preparation for movement to Dau Tieng.
PLANS SUMMARY:  4/9 Inf (FAIRFAX) will conduct BUDDY opn (airmobile) with 3rd ARVN Airborne Bn vic XS660843-665846-673845-677842, and BUSHMASTER opn in AO.  2/14 Inf (LANIKAI) conducts local security while 3/22 Inf commences shipment of equipment to Dau Tieng.
