From Bde to S3:  Alert 1 of the 2/14 Inf Co for an airmobile assault to be to the 4/9 Inf.  Area of probably deployment is XS 670830.  The 4/9th Inf is in heavy contact.  Have the alert Co on 15 min standby.  Breakdown will be 6 men per helicopter.  Start monitoring the 4/9th Inf net, freq 35.2.  1st Bde was informed that Co C 2/14 will be the standby company.

29 1033 From S3 to Bde:  The patrol from C Co is being removed from position to return to base camp to be included in the airlift if necessary to deploy Co C in support of the 4/9 Inf.
36 1425 C Co element at bunker C-4 reports sighting approx one squad size element near a VC flag.  Patrol 1 was asked it they had any personnel in that vicinity.  Patrol 1 stated that they did not have any personnel in that area.  Capt Cecchine instructed patrol 1 to check the area on their way back to base camp.  XS 755697.
45 1635 Bde to S3:  2/14th Inf has been relieved of the alert Co on 15 min standby as of 131300 Jan 67.
49 1630 S3 to Bde:  Patrol 1 (PRU) on their return to base camp checked area where Co C's bunker 4 had reported sighting approx a squad size element erecting a VC flag.  The PRU searched area at approx 1605 hrs but did not make enemy contact, however they did find the VC flag and brought it with them to Rach Kien base camp.  Flag was located at XS 755697.

A/4/9 on LZ 2 XS684829 rec'd SA fire from XS677834.  1 US WIA, request dustoff.

14 0950 4/9 C&C ship down at XS68-852, requested another C&C ship.
15 1000 4/9 sent 2 squads to secure downed aircraft vic XS680852.
16 1015 Bde S3 alerted 1 Co (C/2/14) on 15 min standby for possible reinforcement of A/4/9.
17 1025 B/4/9 landed on LZ 1 to reinforce A/4/9, rec'd SA fire vic XS696841.
19 1050 B/4/9 platoon requested dustoff for 1 WIA (litter), from SA fire.
20 1053 A/4/9 had 4 WIA, and 1 MIA vic XS682829.
22 1123 The downed aircraft was lifted out 1100 hrs, vic XS680852.
23 1130 Dustoff receiving ground fire (AW) from vic XS683827.
25 1203 Dustoff on the way for the 1 WIA from B/4/9.
26 1205 A & B Co 4/9 linked up vic XS685834.
28 1220 Dustoff completed for B/4/9.
29 1223 Bde Commander and Bde S-3 are at C/4/9 area.
30 1254 S3 1st Bde informed 2/14 to stand down Alert company.
33 1438 A/4/9 found body of MIA (KIA) vic XS682829 at 1425 hrs.
34 1500 C/2/14 reports sighting from bunker a squad size element at XS755697.  Requested them to try to get close and try to determine if they are VC or not.
35 1515 Air strike requested at coord XS668837 and XS667825 by 4/9.  Disapproved by Tan An Capt. Gordon.
45 2400 SUMMARY:  1st Bde continued operations FAIRFAX and LANIKAI.  4/9 Inf opn FAIRFAX with S&D BUDDY opn vic XS683819 (airmobile) and BUSHMASTER opn vic XS7195.  2/14 Inf continued LANIKAI with local security and ambush opns in AO.
PLANS SUMMARY:  4/9 Inf (FAIRFAX) will conduct BUSHMASTER opns in AO vic XS8275 and Eagle flight in LZ vic 6985.  2/14 Inf (LANIKAI) will conduct Eagle flight vic XS723713.  Remainder of Bn stands down.
