B Co spotted 1 VC with weapon at vic XS 773694.  VC was taken under fire with small arms.  Results unknown.

21 0840 1/46th requests permission to borrow an ambulance from 2/14 Inf to take 1 ARVN litter patient to a hospital in Saigon.  Granted.
24 0845 B Co remains at vic XS777695 with 1 platoon and 1 element XS772691.  B Co is making a rope bridge to cross the canal.
29 1000 B Co destroyed 11 2-man overhead-covered foxholes at XS777695.
31 1020 B Co received sniper fire vic XS 781700.  Sniper estimated as being squad size with 2 automatic weapons.  Arty called into the area.
32 1050 From S3 to Bde:  Lead B Co loc XS778698 in pursuit of VC and prepared LZ for dustoff.  1 US WIA (completed 1125 hrs)
34 1135 B Co has destroyed 2 Chicom claymores at vic XS779698, also 1 house was destroyed.
35 1135 B Co received SA fire from XS 784696.  Fire returned, results unk.
37 1200 B Co reports sniper fire from XS784696, fire was returned, Arty called in, 3 VC KIA (Poss) by Arty.
43 1350 From S3 to Bde:  All B Co elements have started moving on return route, negative contact.
49 1615 B Co closed base camp

On this day the 2/14th Inf Bn was the only battalion attached to 1st Brigade.  Since most of the 2/14 S-3 log entries above were also reported to Brigade HQ, they were duplicated in the 1st Bde S2/S3 log, but they will not be repeated here.  I've included only entries that contain unique or unusual information

At 1000 hrs FAC reported bunker complex that appears to be a VC base vic XS661846.  Air strike put in, results 3 structures destroyed, 4 bunkers damaged.

38 2400 SUMMARY:  1st Bde continued operation LANIKAI in Long An Province.  ASCC's remain established at Tan An, Ben Luc and Rach Kien.  The 2/14 Inf continued LANIKAI with a S&D BUDDY opn.  Co B and 4 National Police continued S&D opn vic XS7769.  The Co returned to Rach Kien closing at 1615 hrs.  Two air strikes were flown in support of Brigade operations resulting in 3 VC structures and 3 bunkers destroyed.
PLANS SUMMARY:  2/14 Inf Bn will continue LANIKAI with Bn (-) conducting local security at Rach Kien.  Co B will establish a forward operational base vic XS724726.
