B Co reports accidental casualty by hand grenade.  Man (E5 Sonka) has minor head wound and was also hit on the side of his hips and left hand, taken to medical aid station, will be dusted off in morning.  One man is being held pending an investigation.

C Co 4th platoon blew 2 81mm duds at the Laterite Pit

14 1440 Patrol 1 contacted S3 for instructions on what to do with 4 civilians fishing 200 meters from Patrol 1's Alpha site.  Civilians were a man 35 years, a woman 33 years, and 2 children.  Capt Friend instructed patrol leader to bypass civilians since there isn't any daylight curfew.
19 1600 C Co progress report:  1.  Fixed fence line, 2.  Put out trip flares in front of bunker line, 3.  Put up some bags around B Co mess hall.

A/4/9 patrol spotted 4 VC platoons wearing black pajamas except 1 man in each platoon was wearing white PJ's.  VC were heavily armed to include MG's, vic XT703185.  Requested Arty, results unk.

Ref Item 3:  As a result of VC activity, ENTAC platoon 4/9 with 2 scout dog teams will check area and track VC direction commencing at 0930.

11 0925 B/4/9 patrol CRASH destroyed 3 tunnels and 1 punji pit vic XT645175 while returning to base camp.  Tunnels and pit were old with no signs of recent use.
12 0955 Recon 4/9 located a possible VC patrol crossing site vic XT698187.  Sandal type footprints indicated direction of movement was south to north.
13 1020 Persons in 2/27 tower observed 3 individuals vic XT628168.  One appeared to be carrying a weapon.  They were moving to teh southeast.  4/9 was notified and persons at new Laterite pit will check them out.
16 1203 Ref Item 3:  Report from tracking party that vic XT697186 area appeared to have been meeting place for approx 50 personnel.  Three trails led out of area.  Dogs are unable to pick up trail of VC.
21 1650 3/4 Cav destroyed 10 huts with small tunnels inside, 2 bunkers, 1 bag rice, 1 crossbow, 1 battery with wired.  49th ARVN picked up 5 detainees, destroyed 1 105mm round, destroyed 15 huts.
33 2400 SUMMARY:  1st Bde operating with one Bn (4/9 Inf) continued security opns vic Cu Chi base.  4/9 Inf Bn continued security opns vic Cu Chi base, provided one Co as Div Base Reaction Force and maintained one separate Co base vic XT698192.  Co A continued assisting in foliage clearing opn from their Co base vic XT698192.
PLANS SUMMARY:  1st Bde will continue to control the defense of the Cu Chi base perimeter.  4/9 Inf Bn will continue security opns vic Cu Chi base, provide one Co as Div Reaction Force, and maintain one separate Co base vic XT698192.
