From S3:  B Co training for this afternoon has been cancelled because of another commitment.

15 1148 A Co 2nd Platoon reports they have ceased their training firing at Laterite pit.
18 1318 From S3 to B Co:  In addition to their other night activities B Co will have an additional squad size or reinforced fire team ambush patrol leaving at dusk and coming in at dawn of the 8th of March.  Location of patrol is XT498494.
20 1345 C Co requested permission to test fire weapons at Laterite pit:  Granted.
29 0130 Notified by engineers that unidentified personnel were moving in area of road near Laterite pit.  Halted Engineer work, alerted patrol #4, and fired illumination from Co B.  Negative results.

C/4/9 patrol JIGGS spotted movement at XT648183.  Called in Arty, results unk.

Ref Item 2:  C/4/9 patrol JIGGS gave new location of possible 15 VC at vic XT656177.  Arty still firing, neg results.

5 0126 Ref Item 2:  C/4/9 patrol JIGGS relocating 400 meters west of Ann Margaret vic XT657175.  Also at this time the patrol leader found out that his FO was missing, had been missing approx 20 mins.  No result on Arty at this time.  No US casualties.  VC were moving due north from last sighting vic XT656177.
6 0150 Ref Item 2:  C/4/9 at Ann Margaret is firing white star clusters to let missing know their position.
9 0335 Ref Item 2:  C/4/9 patrol JIGGS.  FO is still missing.  Patrol JIGGS will remain in position XT657175 and stay until dawn and make another check.
13 0608 D/3/4 Cav ambush patrol rec'd AW and SA fire loc vic XT655123.  A/3/4 Cav going to relieve them.  Also calling Arty.
14 0628 D/3/4 Cav relieved by A/3/4 Cav at 0623 hrs, on way back to base camp.
17 0701 Ref Item 2:  C/4/9 FO returned at 0653 hrs.
19 0724 C/4/9 found 4 Chicom mines and 1 shirt.  Will blow mines in place.
31 1445 A/3/4 Cav that was checking mine at XT583157, rec'd fire from 1 VC at vic XT595172.  Called Arty.  Moving to check area out.  May require infantry support for counter-action.
32 1450 VR (Maj Jubas) observed 1 sampan with 15 VC at vic XT618180.  Called Arty, results unk.  At debriefing, pilot indicated area was well-covered by Arty, claimed 2 VC KIA (Poss).
33 1504 A/3/4 Cav gunships rec'd 7-8 rounds SA fire from vic XT594172.  Saw 1 man running with weapon.  Rec'd 2 more rounds SA fire.  Fired rockets at same location and had one secondary explosion.  Gunship was slightly damaged.
34 1514 D/3/4 Cav spotted 1 VC running with 6 coils of wire vic XT599165.  Gunships took him under fire with neg. results.  A/3/4 Cav observed 1 VC KIA (BC) which was assumed to be the same individual vic XT599165.
39 1705 A/3/4 Cav found tunnel complex at vic XT598170.  Also found 100 rounds 50 Cal ammo that was booby-trapped, was destroyed.  Also destroyed 1 hypodermic needle, 3 rodents (apparently experimental).  The VC had been previously wounded.  2 US WIA's as result of booby-trap vic XT598170.
52 2250 C/4/23 rec'd 2 hand grenades from east of their location (XT527214).  Firing 81mm and requested Arty.  No casualties.
55 2400 SUMMARY:  1st Bde continued opn ALA MOANA and remained control HQs for Cu Chi base defense.  4/9 Inf continued security opn vic Cu Chi Base Camp and conducted a platoon size airmobile S&D mission vic XT6220.  4/23 Inf continued a Bn size S&D mission vic XT5121.
PLANS SUMMARY:  4/9 Inf will continue security opn vic Cu Chi base camp.  4/23 Inf will continue S&D opn vic XT5121.
