B Co has been relieved of responsibility of the bunker line and Laterite pit.

19 0840 4-5 rounds SA fire received vic XT502482 estimated 20 VC with carbines.  3/22 engaged with M-79 and M-60, results unknown.
    There's a gap in the log at this point, perhaps pages are missing, or this is the result of the battalion's move back to Cu Chi.  The first page has numbered items, but there are no numbers on pages 2,3,and 4, just the time and incident.  And there is a time gap from the last entry on page 1, 0840 hrs, to page 2's starting entry at 1945 hrs.
  1945 Enemy mortar rounds began landing in vic of 2/14 area.  All 2/14 Inf Companies notified.  Counter mortar attach plan was put into effect by Bn.
   1955 Bunker 11 observed flashes at an azimuth of 350 degrees
  2000 No more incoming rounds heard.  No casualties at this time.
  2005 Bunker 5 radar team reports sighting flashes at AZ 5200m
  2015 HHC reports one man sustained minor head wound.
  2016 Bunker 5 reports observing flashes at AZ 780m approx 300 meters
  2020 Bunker 5 radar team reports sighting flashes at AZ 6280m distance approx 2500 meters.
  2025 HHC 1st Sgt reports that the man with the minor head wound sustained it as he jumped on his jeep, he is OK.
  2025 Bunker 17 reports one man laying down about 150 meters from the bunker.  Engaging with M-79.
  2040 Bunker 18 reports light 75 meters from his location, engaging with M-16.
  2040 Ann Margaret reports receiving sniper fire from XS673174
  2145 Bunker 9 and 11 report receiving sniper fire.
  2200 Bunker 17 has one man with slight wrist wound, cause unknown.
  2205 S3:  All companies stand to, have report to Bde at 0345 hrs.
  2207 Secured from mortar attack.
  2320 Bunker 15 reported movement in front of their bunker inside the wire.

C/4/23 rec'd SA fire vic XT566187, VC broke contact and disappeared.  No casualties.

16 0855 A/4/9 loc vic XT660196, neg contact.  Located a foxhole and small trench complex in this area.  Trench was 100m long, was destroyed.
18 0859 2/27 tower reports 2 individuals vic XT601184.
23 0945 S2 4/23 reports one VC or VC sympathizer on road vic XT580175.  He was directing persons in vehicles and ox carts to dismount and walk up road.  Road is possibly mined.
24 1000 Delayed Entry:  As a result of action 142208 Mar, vic old Laterite pit, 4/9 reports area was checked at first light.  Drag marks and blood trails were observed leading to Vinh Cu.  On each blood trail a magazine from an AK-47 rifle was found.  One was empty and one was full.  Also found one Chicom grenade which was destroyed in place.
26 1035 3/4 Cav reports gunship rec'd 2 rounds SA fire at 0950 hrs vic XT534304.  Another gunship rec'd one round SA fire at 1000 hrs vic XT538311.
42 1515 B/4/9 with Chieu Hoi found tunnel complex vic XT605148,  Received one hand grenade from VC resulting in 1 US KIA and 2 US WIA.  1 VC KIA (BC).
54 1940 1st Bde receiving rounds of unknown size or direction of fire.  1 known round in area.  4/23 forward reports 2 casualties, 1 round received.
56 2025 A/4/23 patrol A2 in position vic XT578173.  At 2020 hrs rec'd approx 10 rounds AW fire from vic XT582169.  Called Arty, no casualties, results unk.
57 2043 Outpost Ann Margaret reports receiving SA fire vic XT673174.  Calling Arty.
58 2045 Delayed Entry:  1950-2020 hrs:  2/14 bunker 5 observed flashes, distance 2000 meters at AZ 5200 mils.  Bunker 11 observed flashes distance 2000 meters at AZ 250 mils.  B/2/14 observed lights from vic 1500 meters at AZ 6300 mils.  2/14 bunker 5 again reported flashes from 3000 meters at an AZ 780 mils.  2/14 bunker 17 observed unidentified movement.  Engaged with SA and M-79.
60 2056 4/23 Bn base rec'd 2 rounds SA fire vic XT591201, no casualties.
61 2059 Arty channels report Trung Lap Ranger Camp received 20 ARVN WIA's, 9 of which were medevac'd.
63 2150 2/14 bunker 9 and 11 rec'd SA fire from vic Ann Margaret.
64 2157 From G-3:  Stand down and will have a stand to at 0345 hrs for all battalions.
65 2220 4/23 patrol A2 sprung ambush vic XT578173.  1 VC KIA (BC).  No US casualties.  Still observe movement in area, called Arty.  Results unk.
66 2230 From G-3:  G3 wants the following areas checked tomorrow:  XT662189, XT653194 and XT629189.  Also road from Bao Cap north and east along area between Ho Bo Woods and FILHOL Plantation.  Confirmed by 4/23 at 2315 hrs.
71 2400 SUMMARY:  1st Bde continued opn ALA MOANA and remained control HQs for Cu Chi base defense.  4/9 Inf continued security opns vic Cu Chi base camp, conducted a Co (-) search vic XT6015 and a company airmobile opn vic XT6619.  4/23 Inf continued S&D opn vic XT5518.  2/14 Inf returned to Cu Chi base camp from opns under OPCON 3rd Bde, 4th Div.
PLANS SUMMARY:  4/9 Inf will conduct a company size S&D mission north of route 237 vic XT628167.  4/23 Inf will conduct S&D opns in the FILHOL Plantation.  2/14 Inf will conduct security opns and maintenance vic Cu Chi base camp.
