A Co patrol 4 spotted 2 VC, sprung their ambush, checked the area and found nothing.  They are moving the ambush.

0115

A Co patrol 4 has 1 US WIA from the back blast of a friendly claymore, looking for a LF.

5 0155 A Co patrol 4 will bring casualty back to Ann Margaret, no suitable LF for evac.  Med station will be at Ann Margaret to pick him up.
6 0235 Patrol 4 has closed Ann Margaret with wounded personnel.  Evacuated by Med Bn.  Patrol is going back out to approximate location of ambush site.
10 0415 Patrol 4 in in position at XT677174.
13 0510 A Co reports Patrol 4's wounded personnel has sucking chest wound, evacuated to 7th Surgical Hospital.
19 0628 A Co personnel wounded last night in patrol 4 was from 2nd platoon, James C. McGrew, PFC.
30 1230 A Co element leaving Ann Margaret to blow booby-traps.
35 1430 A Co patrol 6 located one mine believed to be anti-tank mine at vic XT625161.  Will blow in place.
36 1505 A Co patrol 6 is in position, found 5 booby-traps, will be destroyed, then patrol will return to base.  At  XT619168

B/4/9 rec'd 1 round sniper fire.  Called Arty.  1 VC KIA (Poss).  XS707985.

B/4/9 patrol spotted 12 VC vic XS720892.  Fired 2 rounds 81mm mortar, results unk.

5 0112 A/2/14 patrol 4 sprung ambush vic XT681175, neg results.
6 0118 A/2/14 patrol 4 has 1 US WIA from back blast of claymore.
11 0510 Ref Item 6:  The patrol sprung ambush on 2 VC vic XT681175.  Engaged with SA and claymore mine.  1 US too close to back blast area and suffered a sucking chest wound, was returned to Ann Margaret on foot for treatment, unk result about the enemy.
23 1432 A/2/14 sent patrol out to destroy AT mine located by patrol 26 Mar.  At XT625161 the AT mine was destroyed in place.  Patrol also located 5 booby-traps vic XT619168 and destroyed them also.
27 1620 A/4/9 element found vic XS702942 10 fortified bunkers, 1 pack of clothing, 1 expended 57mm recoilless rifle round.
48 2400 SUMMARY:  Opns ALA MOANA and MAKALAPA and security opns vic Cu Chi base continued.  ASCC's remain established at Cu Chi and Vinh Loc.  4/9 Inf continued local security opns and night ambush patrolling vic XS7094.  2/14 Inf continued security opns vic Cu Chi base.
PLANS SUMMARY:  4/9 Inf:  B/4/9 will conduct airmobile S&D vic XS6690.  Remainder of Bn continues local security opns and night ambush patrolling.  2/14 Inf:  B/2/14 will conduct airmobile S&D vic XT6819.  Remainder of Bn continue local security opns vic Cu Chi base.  4/23 Inf:  Continue as Div Reserve.
