C Co Patrol 2 notified by Radar of 4 suspected VC XT637188 traveling toward their position.

Present location of suspected VC personnel is XT636191, believed to be following a vehicle.

    Initial log entries contain hourly sit/rep, no change.
19 0634 C Co first lift is airborne.
23 0725 Bunker 20 reports approx 15 civilians at XT665164, appear to be working and Bunker 20 will continue to observe.
25 0953 C Co location XT671218 found trench line which seemed to have been used recently, will destroy.  Also found spider holes XT669226, seemed to be about 4 months old.
30 1514 C Co reports finding one anti-tank mine coord XT651195, will destroy.
42 1924 New Laterite pit reports that a man was accidentally wounded by a .45 Cal. pistol.  Two men were fighting, one was grazed in cheek.  Ambulance called.
47 2003 Radar reports 10-15 people at XT625193 and 629185.  Notified patrol 2.  Arty fired on positions.
49 2030 New Laterite pit reports injured man was PFC Myers.  C Co CO is taking sworn statements from the two individuals involved in the incident.
51 2155 Patrol 5 re-entered FFL due to lack of communication, given instructions to obtain a new radio and go back out to his ambush position.
    Daily Sit/Rep 031801H to 041800H Apr 67

1.  Operational Summary:

   a.  General:  2/14 Inf continues to defend in sector.  Four reinforced squad size ambush patrols were maintained during the hours of darkness.  One company conducted a heliborne operation vic XT673230 during the morning hours and closed base camp at 041625H.  In addition the battalion established platoon size bases in the vicinity of the old and new laterite pits and secured the bridge to OP Ann Margaret with one reinforced squad.  One reinforced squad maintained OP Ann Margaret and as ASCC was continued at Cu Chi District Headquarters to exploit local intelligence.  Also, one company maintained responsibility for base reaction company.  One company also displaced its CP to vic old laterite pit.

   b.  Co A secured the old laterite pit with one platoon and also conducted two reinforced squad size ambush patrols during the hours of darkness.  In addition Co A displaced its CP to vic of the old laterite pit and secured their portion of the battalion perimeter.

   c.  Co B secured OP Ann Margaret with one reinforced squad and conducted one reinforced squad size ambush patrol during the hours of darkness.  In addition Co B secured the new laterite pit and maintained their portion of the battalion perimeter.

   d.  Co C conducted S&D operation ALA MOANA, in AO CLUB vic XT673230 to vic XT665172.  The following results were recorded:  located a trench line, spider fox holes, destroyed one anti-tank mine.  The company closed OP Ann Margaret at 041625H.  In addition Co C secured the bridge to OP Ann Margaret and maintained their portion of the bunker line.

   e.  HHC maintained their portion of the airfield security and also their portion of the bunker line.  The Recon platoon established a blocking position in conjunction with C Co's operation.

2.  Operational Plans:  2/14 Inf continues to conduct base camp security operations.  Five reinforced squad size patrols will be conducted in local areas with platoon bases being established in the vicinity of the old and new laterite pits.  The advance party of battalion forward base camp vic Ben Luc.  One reinforced squad will continue to secure the bridge to OP Ann Margaret and the ASCC at Cu Chi District Headquarters will be maintained.  One company will displace its CP to vic OP Ann Margaret and one reinforced squad will secure the OP.  In addition one company will maintain base reaction company.
