Advance party arrived base camp XS652785 (Ben Luc)

    Initial log entries contain hourly sit/rep, no change.
    Daily Sit/Rep 041801H to 051800H Apr 67.

1.  Operational Summary.

   a.  General:  2/14 Inf continued to defend in sector.  Five reinforced squad size ambush patrols were conducted during the hours of darkness.  A reinforced squad conducted a daylight combat patrol vic XT664182, results located (2) 105mm duds which were blown in place.  In addition the battalion established platoon size bases in the vicinity of the old and new laterite pits and secured the bridge to OP Ann Margaret with one reinforced squad.  One reinforced squad maintained OP Ann Margaret and an ASCC was continued at Cu Chi District Headquarters to exploit local intelligence.  Also one company maintained responsibility for base reaction company.  In addition one company displaced its CP to vic the new laterite pit.  The battalion advance party departed for vic Ben Luc to establish the forward base camp at 050700 and closed the forward base camp at 051030H.

   b.  C A secured the old laterite pit with one platoon and also conducted two reinforced squad size ambush patrols during the hours of darkness.  In addition Co A maintained responsibility for base reaction company and maintained their portion of the battalion perimeter.  One reinforced squad conducted a daylight combat patrol results located two 105mm duds that were blown in place.

   c.  Co B secured OP Ann Margaret with one reinforced squad and conducted three reinforced squad size ambush patrols during the hours of darkness.  In addition Co B secured their portion of the bunker line and displaced their CP to vic OP Ann Margaret.

   d.  Co C secured the new laterite pit with one platoon and maintained the bridge to OP Ann Margaret with a reinforced squad.  In addition Co C secured their portion of the bunker line.

   e.  HHC maintained their portion of the airfield security and also their portion of the bunker line.  The Recon Platoon secure the advance parties convoy to Ben Luc and the 4.2mm Mortar platoon dispatched 2 tubes forward.

2.  Operational Plans:  2/14 Inf continues to conduct base camp security operations.  Four reinforced squad size ambush patrols will be conducted in local areas with platoon bases being established in the vicinity of the old and new laterite pits.  One company will conduct a heliborne operation in AO BAN to search and clear in the AO.  One reinforced squad will continue to secure the bridge to OP Ann Margaret and an ASCC at Cu Chi District Headquarters will be maintained.  One company will displace its CP to vic of the new laterite pit and one reinforced squad will secure OP Ann Margaret.  In addition one company will maintain base reaction company.
