Patrol 2 identifies a light as a fire, will observe and let us know what happens.

54 0719 Road between Base Camp and Ben Luc has been cleared by Recon and Engineers.
55 0738 B & C Co started movement.
56 0900 Manchu elements located at XS590815.
57 0930 C Co destroyed 4 concrete bunkers and a machine shop bunker at XS637877.  Requests resupply of demo.
58 0943 TIGHTEN LOCKER 15 requests dustoff for 2 WIA, litter, from SA fire.  LZ secure at XS578844.
66 1127 All lifts for A Co complete, Extraction of B Co complete.
68 1208 C Co found and destroyed 72 spider holes, 11 cement and concrete reinforced bunkers, 4 grass and straw hooches, 10 squad-size bunkers, 30 helicopter rockets (12 of them armed).  All destroyed XS637878.
69 1245 A Co located at 635872.  Have blown 20 2-man bunkers.
70 1320 A Co has one man with a snake bite, Bn CO will pick him up and bring him to base camp.
71 1335 A Co reported finding 2400 lbs rice in good condition vic 635866, rice is to be brought in for villagers.
74 1421 C Co requested 5 cases C-4, 2 cases M-26 grenades.
76 1435 A Co reports 3 WIA from booby-trap, 2 are serious, will be dusted off by resupply ship (Hornet 20) vic 633868, 1 has serious heart wound.
80 1520 A Co found 2 60mm mortars complete, 4 .38 Cal. pistols, 3 M-1 (30 Cal), 5 Thompson submachine guns, 4 carbines, 3 recoilless rifle rounds vic 633868.  Will blow recoilless rifle rounds.
83 1630 B Co reports:  (1)  4 ea 3 ft x 1 ft reinforced concrete bunkers, 6-10 in thick walls, used 210 lbs C-4.   (2) 7 ea mud and log bunkers, lined with corrugated steel 3 ft x 4 ft, thick walls, used 240 lbs C-4.  (3)  3 mud and log bunkers had previously been destroyed by direct bomb hit.  Some bunkers, mud, were within 5 ft of a bomb crater with no adverse affects to the bunker.  All bunkers were along Canal 77.
84 1643 A Co reports finding 1 Chicom carbine, 1 M-1, 1 grease gun vic 633868.  Also reports area is heavily booby-trapped.
86 1737 Received one round of incoming 60mm on west side close to our landing zone.
89 1930 C Co wants dustoff southeast part of base camp corner oh HHH 73, same place of resupply, 1 person bitten by wasps, is allergic to them, swelling fast.
92 2045 Received 1 round recoilless rifle, no casualties yet.  Hit on the bunker line just inside, no damage.
    Daily Sit/Rep 141801H to 151800H Apr 67

1.  Operational Summary:

  a.  General:  2/14th Inf continued to defend in sector at the forward base camp vic Ben Luc.  Five LP's were conducted during the hours of darkness and security was maintained throughout the perimeter.  2/14th Inf (-) continued their advance along canal PAPA vic grid XS6186, XS6286, XS6385 and XS6485 to destroy VC facilities and fortifications in AO ST GEORGE.  During the morning hours Co C replaces Co A in the AO and continued to S&D in sector.  One company remained in base camp for security and continued to improve their defensive positions.  Two 105 howitzer batteries and the heavy mortar platoon continued to fire in direct support of the battalions operation.  In addition, the Engr and the Recon platoons cleared the road from the forward base camp to Ben Luc and located an AT mine at 140708H vic XS647774 (destroyed).
