Tracker team will be sent to Hunsley tomorrow to assist in search of contact area @0600

From S-4:  Chinook laid on to bring CRIP and 4.2 personnel back to Patton and transport 4.2 replacements to Hunsley at 0900 28 Sep 69.  Informed S-4 CRIP will not be ready.  Slick will be used instead at 1045 H.

Diamond Head spotted 3 BC @584258

   

Summary:  Hunsley reported several starlight and radar sightings between midnight and dawn.  Arty and mortars were employed and a Night Hawk was employed to check out the area of activity.  TF Chaudrue detected movement near their night laager and engaged with arty.  Venice East spotted movement on Bau Dieu peninsula and fired 1 81mm WP to scare individuals out into the open.  Sweep team cleared 7A from highway 1 to Trung Lap.  3 Co 2/49 ARVNs ballgame was canceled by 2/49.  A Co conducted 2 platoon-size RIFs out of FSB - found and destroyed one booby-trap CS grenade.  B Co conducted 2 platoon-size RIFs out of PB.  C Co and 2 companies 2/49 conducted joint operations out of NDP - found booby-trap 2.75" tunnel.  TF Chaudrue continued operations in Ho Bo Woods.  Visited by commanding general 25th ARVN Division.  Found and destroyed bunkers and tunnel complex.  1 WIA from booby-trap.  Hunsley sighted 75-80 VC near the PB.  Engaged with arty, gunships and TAC air.  Action continued past midnight.  8 body count before midnight.  Venice East radar spotted movement to their west - 81mm - 2 body count verified by Night Hawk.  C Co received 1 round incoming outside their perimeter, returned fire with 81mm mortars and arty, negative further fire.
