Hunsley radar 587277, 15 individuals moving NE, fired 9 81mm HE and 30 105 HE

B Co engaged 15-20 VC vic 580265, believe they got 7-8 VC (not confirmed); individuals moving east to west, wearing rucksacks and carrying weapons, engaged with small arms, neg return fire, continued moving west, will sweep area at daybreak

Hunsley radar 586281, 15-20 individuals moving east-west, fired 30 105 HE

   

Summary:  8 RVN civilians were dusted off form Trung Lap from shrapnel wounds inflicted around midnight.  Co A conducted a heliborne in northern Filhol, found two tunnels, miscellaneous equipment, 1 155mm dud (possible booby-trap), it was destroyed.  C Co conducted recon operation out of NDP (Night Defensive Position) - found 21 57mm canisters in a trench, 1 APC (hit by RPG) with bunker underneath, tunnel and bunker, 1 155mm dud (destroyed), left one platoon as a stay-behind AP.  D Co flew to Hunsley, conducted 360 degree RIF.  CRIP exploited source, found 1 AK-47, 3000 lbs rice, 2 detainees.  3 Co 2/49 ARVNs conducted heliborne operation vic of Co A's ballgame.  Hunsley had starlight and radar sightings.  B Co engaged 1 VC, claiming one body count, then engaged 20 VC with possible 7-8 body count, will sweep area at first light.  Duffel bag had 2 activations near Venice East, also 2 radar pickups near Venice East.
