Operations: Co A 3rd platoon continued search of area vic AP sites, move to Dau Tieng base camp O/A (or or about) 0900 hrs, 1 platoon on 5 minute standby as RRF at base camp, care/maintenance of equipment.  Weapons platoon provide detail for road sweep and TCP at Dau Tieng Bridge.  B Co 1 platoon return from AP O/A 0730 to Dau Tieng base camp, 2 platoons move to FSB Byrd by truck O/A 1200 hours, 1 platoon at Dau Tieng conduct AP vic XT481501, 1 platoon at FSB conduct ground recon O/A 1700 hours, emplace MA (mechanical ambushes), return to FSB, 1 platoon conduct AP from FSB vic XT584522.  Weapons platoon 1 tube to FSB, 2 tubes at Dau Tieng.  Co C 3rd platoon and 1 platoon 396 RF Co continued operations in northern area of Michelin plantation, conduct search of areas, conduct AP vic XT541553, XT547556, XT549567.  Weapons platoon duty weapons at Dau Tieng base camp.  Co D 1 platoon return from AP to FSB Byrd, 3 platoons and 1 platoon RF PZ FSB O/A 1300 hours, CA LZ vic XT564594, 2 lifts and 575588, 1 list, conduct detail search of area moving south, conduct AP vic XT562583, 569586, 576580.  Weapons platoon 1 tube return Dau Tieng, provide detail for road sweep.  Recon sweep and clear highway 239.  4.2 at Dau Tieng base camp in charge of road sweep from Dau Tieng to FSB Byrd.  A Troop 3/4 Cav in charge 984 LCC, 989 RF Co continued cut in area 39 and 38, NL (night laager) vic XT600823

(Late)  2/77 arty convoy out from FSB Byrd was ambushed vic XT547493, 300 meters from both sides of road.  Estimated 7 VC, received SA/ 3-5 RPG, enemy moved to north, south, engaged with Duster/SA/AW.  Results:  1 US WIA, one gun carriage minimal damage to tires, minimal damage to tires to 2 1/2 truck, 1 platoon D Co from Byrd reacting to contact area.  Contact broken at 1220 hrs

    Summary:
At 0855 hours C Co located one (1) bunker 6 x 8 with 4' overhead cover vic XT547517.  There is a trail vic XT548517 running NNE-SSW which was used last about 24 hours ago by 2-3 individuals.  At 1008 hours C Co found one bunker vic XT547519 6 x 8 with 4' overhead cover.  There were two ammo cans 15"x6"x8" inside.  B Co was airborne to pickup mechanical ambushes at 0820 hours and closed Dau Tieng at 1020 hours.  The airmobile company was landed at 1030 hours with 8+30 blade hours.  B Co removed 7 of 8 mechanical ambushes, one had been blown vic XT545608.  One small piece of cloth with blood was found.  At 1200 hours 2/14th was relieved from the 3rd Bde and became OPCON to the 1st Bde.  At 1210 hours the 2/77 Arty convoy from FSB Byrd was ambushed vic XT547493, see item #29.  AO HARD was requested from BDE at 1750 hours.  The date time group is 061200-021200 for the purpose of mechanical ambushes, it includes the area of XT5658-570582-583580-578592-570595-555590.  At 1920 hours C Co 3rd platoon found a fairly new bicycle in good operating condition vic XT545550.  It was on the bank of a small stream and it appeared to be a resting area.  D Co requested priority litter Medevac at 2000 hours for a man from B Battery 7/11 Arty who had a blasting cap explode in his hands.  Medevac complete to 25th Med Cu Chi at 2142 hours.  Khiem Hanh District reported they will be working in the area XT4138-4540-????-4435 from 021400-030600.  Bde sent intelligence report at 2130 hours that there is a regimental CP within 750 meters of XT?12544.  There was a negative situation report at 2400 hours.
