Operations:  A Co continued security at Dau Tieng, conduct 2 hours training, 1000-1130 hours, Visual Tracker Team Employment, 1 platoon on 5 minute standby as RRF at Dau Tieng Base Camp, 1 platoon conduct AP vic XT512503.  Weapons platoon at Dau Tieng Base Camp.  Co B continued security at FSB Byrd, 1 platoon return from AP O/A 0730 hours, conduct road sweep on 239 from FSB to vic XT547493 O/A 0800 hours, link up with road sweep from Dau Tieng, return to FSB, 2 platoons conduct rifle marksmanship training 1500-1600 hours, 2 platoons conduct recon vic FSB, emplace mechanical ambush, move to AP sties vic 570526 and 595526, 1 platoon provide security.  Weapons platoon 1 tube at FSB, 2 tubes at Dau Tieng, in charge of road sweep detail for Dau Tieng to vic 547493, outpost the road from 547493 to FSB Byrd.  C Co 3rd platoon 1st platoon 396 RF continued operations in the north sector of Michelin Rubber Plantation.  Conduct detail search of area, emplace mechanical ambush as directed, conduct AP vic 546556, 551564, 558565.  Weapons platoon at Dau Tieng provide detail for road sweep and sweep TCP at Dau Tieng bridge.  Co D 3 platoons and 1 platoon RF continued operations in the north sector of Michelin Rubber plantation.  Conduct detail search of area, emplace mechanical ambushes as directed, conduct AP vic 565565, 571569, 508565.  Weapons platoon duty platoon at Dau Tieng Base Camp.  Recon platoon conduct road sweep and security of convoy route as directed.  RRF at Dau Tieng.  4.2 platoon at Dau Tieng, 1 section duty weapons, 1 section provide detail for road sweep.  A Troop 3/4 Cav and 984 RF Co continued cut in area 36 & 35, NL vic 600623

Further SitRep on contact of C Co 1st platoon, C Co XT549557 at 1330 hours engaged 2 individuals with small arms at 250m, enemy were traveling from north to south, enemy fled to the east, no knowledge of enemy weapons, negative return fire, individuals were wearing green uniforms and hard hats, contact broken at 1337.  Results, no friendly casualties, found 2 ruck sacks containing 30 lbs of rice, will destroy rice.  Are sweeping area at this time.

    Summary:
Brigade reported at 0820 hours that an unknown size enemy force is within 700 meters of XT396551 on 02 August.  A Troop 3/4 Cav at 0920 hours found and destroyed a 175mm dud vic XT615645.  The rome plows found one and destroyed a 155mm dud vic XT605635 at 1130 hours at 1330.  C Co spotted and engaged two enemy vic XT549557 at 250 meters.  Enemy was traveling from N to S and withdrew to the east with negative return fire.  The enemy were wearing green shirts, green trousers and hard hats.  Contact was broken at 1337.  There were negative friendly casualties and the enemy left behind two ruck sacks containing 20 lbs of rice.  AO MILLS was approved at 1650 hours by Brigade.  AO RED was approved at 1845 hours.  AO TAN was approved from Phu Xuong at 1850 hours.  A Troop 3/4 Cav found a bicycle trail at 2130 hours (see item #66).  The PSPF element at Khiem Hanh District made contact at 2230 hours (see item #69).  There was a negative situation report from all elements at 2400 hours.
